YOUR FOOTAGE. YOUR MAC. YOUR ACCOUNTS.
CineSense privacy policy.
CineSense is a Mac app made by Bryzr Studio (Brian Shiau). It copies and checks camera footage locally, organises shooting days, and optionally uploads copies to cloud accounts you connect. This policy explains how the app and this website handle your information.
Google Drive: optional cloud copies
CloudSense uses Google Drive to put an off-site copy of the shoot folders you choose in your own Drive: your chosen videos and photos, and companion copy receipts in HTML, TSV, and MD5 format.
From v2.134.1, CineSense requests only Google’s drive.file permission (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file), which limits it to files it creates or that you open with it. It cannot read your other Drive files.
Earlier versions could request full Drive access. If you linked Drive with an earlier version, remove CineSense’s old permission from your Google Account’s third-party connections, then link Drive again using v2.134.1 or later. Updating the app alone does not narrow an existing permission.
CineSense uses this access to upload those files, manage its uploaded copies, and read the file metadata and MD5 checksums returned by Google to compare them with your Mac’s copies. A matching service checksum is labelled “server-confirmed”. A cloud copy never makes a camera card safe to format.
Directly from your Mac to Google
Your files travel directly from your Mac to Google Drive. There is no CineSense server in that transfer. Through this integration, Bryzr Studio never receives, stores, or sees your files, Google account information, or sign-in tokens. Google handles the files in your account under its own privacy policy and terms.
Your Google sign-in permission (OAuth access and refresh tokens) is stored only in the macOS Keychain on your Mac. CineSense does not receive your Google password.
Limited Use of Google data
Google user data is used only to provide the cloud copy and checksum features you request. It is never sold, shared with or transferred to other third parties, used for advertising, or used to train AI or machine-learning models.
CineSense's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Disconnecting, retention, and deletion
Uploaded files stay in your Google Drive until you delete them there. Unlinking Google Drive in CineSense removes the stored token and linked-account settings from your Mac; it does not delete copies already in Drive. To withdraw Google’s permission as well, remove CineSense from your Google Account’s third-party connections. You can do this at any time.
Settings and transfer records remain on your Mac until you remove them. Reports and receipts beside your footage remain on the chosen drives until you delete them. Uninstalling the app alone can leave local settings and records behind.
Local files and other cloud services
CineSense accesses cards, drives, and folders you select or authorise. Local copying and checks run on your Mac. Logs, checksums, manifests, and reports can contain filenames, paths, sizes, and transfer results.
If you connect Dropbox, Hetzner Storage Box/SFTP, Backblaze B2, or an S3 service, CineSense sends your chosen files and copy records directly from your Mac to that provider. Bryzr Studio does not receive those files or credentials through the integration, sell them, share them, use them for advertising, or use them to train AI. Each provider’s own privacy policy and terms apply.
Updates, extra tools, and notifications
CineSense checks its public update feed through Sparkle. Update downloads and optional tools you choose to install contact their hosting services, which receive the network information needed to serve the request, such as your IP address. Updates wait while work is in progress.
If you enable phone notifications through ntfy, Discord, Slack, or another webhook, CineSense sends short status messages to the address you configure. These can contain folder names and job status. This is optional, and your chosen notification provider’s privacy terms apply.
On a public ntfy server, anyone who knows an unprotected topic’s name can read its notifications. CineSense’s setup generates a random topic name that is hard to guess. Keep it private, or use a server and topic with access controls.
No analytics or automatic reporting
CineSense has no product analytics, advertising tracking, or automatic diagnostics reporting to Bryzr Studio. Footage and Google user data are not sent to a hosted AI service. CineSearch is not included in the public Mac beta; it is planned as a separate optional download.
Support correspondence
Copy Diagnostics shows what it will gather, creates a folder on your Mac, and sends nothing automatically. It does not include footage, passwords, or keys, and you can hide card and folder names. You decide whether to email that folder.
If you contact Bryzr Studio, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond to your request and resolve the issue. Send only the information needed, redact private filenames and paths, and never send Google tokens, passwords, or keys. To request deletion of support correspondence, contact privacy@bryzrstudio.com; we will handle the request subject to any applicable record-keeping obligations.
This website
The website does not add analytics scripts, advertising trackers, or a newsletter database. Its hosting provider handles network requests and may keep operational or security logs. Contact links open your email application; this website does not submit a support form.
Children
CineSense is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has sent us personal information.
Changes and contact
We publish policy updates here and revise the date below. Material changes to Google data use will be disclosed before that new use begins, with renewed consent where required.
